Veterinarian-Turned-Pet Photographer Based in Northern Virginia
I was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, where I learned early on that animals aren’t just pets; they’re family. That love shaped my life’s direction: I became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, dedicating years to caring for creatures of all shapes and sizes, from rescued street dogs to beloved household companions.
Working hands-on with animals all over the world taught me more than just medicine, it taught me patience, intuition, and how to understand each animal’s unique personality.
For several years, I also worked as a fashion and commercial model in Colombia. I spent countless hours in studios, on runways, and under bright lights — learning how visual storytelling works from the other side of the lens.
It was a creative, dynamic world — but something was missing. I loved the art of image-making… I just didn’t know yet that I wanted to be the one holding the camera.
The Moment It Clicked
After moving to the U.S. in 2023 and partnering with my husband, Charles King, a professional photographer and filmmaker, I began assisting him on high-end commercial shoots. It reignited my passion for creativity but this time, behind the camera.
Then one day, I was asked to photograph a shelter dog at a local event. That moment changed everything.
I realized I could blend my veterinary expertise, my visual instincts from modeling, and my deep love for animals into something powerful: pet photography with soul.
The Pawfect Journey Begins
That spark became Pawfect Journey Photography — a boutique pet photography service based in Fairfax, Virginia, focused on capturing animals in their truest, most joyful form. Whether it’s a bouncy puppy, a dignified senior dog, or a family of cats curled up in their favorite nook, my mission is to tell their story with empathy and artistry.
What sets me apart is not just my eye for detail — it’s the fact that I understand animals. I know how to read their body language, how to work with their moods, and most importantly, how to make them feel safe and seen.
